Angela’s debut album successfully weaves together a variety of tracks. Her natural interpretations enrich the lyrics, and she carries an infectious swing that implants itself in the listener. Drummer Darryl Pellegrini, bassist Bruce Hamada, and pianist Rich Crandall back Angela with note-worthy performances. Highlights include an upbeat gospel/funk, Yes Sir, That’s My Baby (Track 7), a clever samba interweaving of two standards in So Danso Samba/Take The ‘A’ Train (Track 11), and a take-off on the Hawaiian favorite, I’ll Weave A Lei Of Stars (Track 12), with vocal accompaniment by Connie Kissinger and Rich Crandall.
